About Me

Do I wear my heart on my sleeve, or has it gone missing? Am I the intellectual type, or linotype? One thing's for certain, but I forgot what it is...

Back at the ocean!

I'm driving THROUGH a tree!

Breakfast completed!

Breakfast at last! Now to San Francisco

Breakfast, Interrupted

I wish the guy at the hotel had mentioned breakfast ended at 11am :(

Eureka! California

I crossed the border into California a little before
11pm, and was promptly greeted by a station
where I had to stop and declare any produce I
was carrying. Welcome to CA! I think California
gets itself confused with Canada at times. Anyway,
after forgetting to mention the 4 tomatoes I had
stashed in the cooler in the trunk (it was late and
I was tired) (do you think if I planted the tomato seeds
somewhere in Cali it would bring about ecological ruin?,
or are they afraid that produce grown in other states
would inspire a more conservative mindset?), I drove straight
through to Eureka. In retrospect I should have stayed in
Crescent City so that I could have driven through the
Redwood Forest during daylight, but the drive was
interesting at night, there was a lot of mist, giving the
woods a very sppoky quality at times. I was often the
only car within my line of sight...

Sea Lion Caves

I had heard about this spot before I left, so I knew
I wanted to stop. There's an elevator built into the
side of the hill here that takes you 200' straight down
into a natural sea cave (they claim it's the largest
natural sea cave in the world?) The elevator lets
visitors off into a small gallery from which you can
look down into the main cave where the sea lions
rest on a rock just inside the cave entrance. I'm
assuming there is much more to the cave than we
could see, because it didn't seem all that large. But
there were a good number of sea lions. I hope my
new Canon camera got a good shot, but the lighting was
very low and flash photography was not allowed. The
Sea Lion Caves are just north of Florence, Oregon.

Lincoln City, Oregon

A Beautiful view from hwy 101 as I was leaving
Lincoln City, OR. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean
and a nice stretch of beach, I got my first glimpse at
the large rocky outcroppings that seem to be
extremely common off Oregon's western shores.

Lincoln city, Oregon

Wonderful pictures from my RAZR :(
This one should have been a shot of a sign
for the Lincoln City Inn in Oregon. This is where
I caught hwy 101 for the trip down the coast!

Sherwood, Oregon

The street sign that I failed to get a good
picture of as I flew down the road said
Welcome to Sherwood.

I'm In!

Looks like I'm in! I got the letter the other day, welcoming me to the University of Washington for the Fall quarter. Guess there's room for this old man to continue his education after-all. Now I'm just waiting for the Computer Science application decision. If that falls through I'll enter UW as a Math major, and will try for CS again in the Spring.

Now if the planets would just align so that I could find a job, after Alltel closes our center in September, that would give me the time needed for classes, then all will be well with the world ;)
